Creative, Senior Manager
Description
Creative, Senior Manager
Remote - United States
About the Role
As Creative Manager, you will own the visual strategy and creative execution of Blackboard's marketing function, aligning to brand guidelines. You will lead a small, focused team across video and design, partner closely with the broader marketing organization, and use generative AI to expand what a lean creative team can produce.
You're an individual contributor at heart with a natural ability to coach and collaborate.
You'll be executing your own work as well as guiding and reviewing the work of your team, including external partners, as needed. You move fast, hold a high bar for craft, and treat AI as a core part of the toolkit rather than an experiment on the side.
Responsibilities
Own the creative function
- Lead all creative output for the marketing organization, including brand identity and governance, campaign assets, sales enablement materials, event collateral, presentations, web design, and social graphics.
- Maintain and evolve the Blackboard brand system, ensuring every customer-facing asset is on-brand, on-message, and production-ready.
- Translate strategic priorities from the VP, GTM Marketing into a clear creative roadmap and prioritized backlog.
Lead the video team
- Manage two video producers: one focused on product-level videos (demos, tutorials, feature walkthroughs) and one focused on brand and campaign videos (sizzle reels, customer stories, launch films).
- Set the creative direction for video work across both lanes, review output, and ensure quality and brand consistency.
- Build and maintain a scalable video production model that mixes in-house work, AI-assisted production, and external partners.
Build an AI-native creative practice
- Integrate generative AI into the day-to-day creative workflow for ideation, asset production, copy variants, image generation, and video editing.
- Establish reusable AI workflows and prompt libraries that allow the team to produce more output at higher quality without expanding headcount.
- Stay current on emerging tools (image, video, motion, voice) and bring forward the ones that meaningfully improve speed or quality.
- Set clear standards for when AI-generated content is appropriate, how it gets reviewed, and how brand integrity is protected.
Partner across the organization
- Work closely with GTM Marketing, Revenue Marketing, Customer Growth, and Sales to deliver creative that drives pipeline, expansion, and brand equity.
- Manage relationships with external agencies, freelancers, and production partners when specialized work is needed.
- Run a tight intake and prioritization process so the team operates on the highest-leverage work.
Required Skills and Experience
- 7+ years of in-house or agency experience across brand, design, and video, with at least 2 years leading or directing other creatives
- A portfolio that demonstrates strong design fundamentals (typography, layout, color, brand systems) and modern video storytelling
- Hands-on fluency with Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, and presentation tools
- Active, practical use of generative AI tools for design and video (e.g., Midjourney, Adobe Firefly, Runway, ElevenLabs, Descript, or equivalents). You can describe specific workflows you have built, not just tools you have tried
- Experience managing distributed teams, including async collaboration
- Comfort operating at both 30,000 feet (brand strategy, creative direction) and on the ground (producing your own work when needed)
- High agency. You see what needs to happen and move on it
- Bias for shipping. You ship work, learn from it, and improve the next round
- Adaptive learner. You treat new tools and approaches as opportunities, not threats
- Clear communicator. You can brief, give feedback, and align stakeholders without friction
- Quality-obsessed. You hold a high creative bar and protect the brand even under pressure
- Fluency in written and spoken English
Preferred Skills and Experience
- B2B SaaS experience; education technology experience
